PRINTING TECHNIQUES
VARIANTS
Variant A
[1858]: on dark blue paper; on upper wrapper, at head, engraved, in black: "AUNT MAVOR'S TOY BOOKS. | PRICE SIXPENCE EACH."; at foot, engraved, in red: "LONDON | GEORGE ROUTLEDGE & CO"; lower wrapper with publishers' advertisements listing, inside a plain frame and under the fancy heading "Illustrated Juvenile Books", Aunt Mavor's Little Library titles nos. [1-8] [verificare numerazione], the last of which, Aunt Mavor's book of nursery rhymes (second series), was published in 1857 (Publishers' Circular (February 2, 1857), 71); at foot, printers' caption: "Edmund Evans, Engraver and Printer, Raquet-court, Fleet-street.". Since title no. [9], History of five little pigs, published in September 1857, was not listed (Publishers' Circular (September 15, 1857), 395), this lower wrapper was set and printed before that but was used in association with this title, published by April 1858, as further confirmed by an accession stamp dated "24AP58" (BL: 12806.g.52(2/3))
Variant B

[1-4, 6-25], the last of which, Patty and her pitcher, was published in 1862; at foot, printers' caption: "EDMUND EVANS, ENGRAVER AND PRINTER, RAQUET COURT, FLEET STREET.".
